Director / Classical Ballet
Amanda graduated from the Berlin State Ballet School in Germany where she studied the Vaganova method of classical ballet. She went on to dance with the Metropol Theatre Berlin, was principal artist with the Space Dream Musical Theatre, the Ballett-Compagnie Deutschland and Disney’s multi-million Euro production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. Amanda perform with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and she was one of only four soloists chosen from around Germany to dance in the TV Gala “Sommernacht der Klassik” at the Semper Opera house Dresden. Renowned Belgian choreographer Marc Bogaerts created “Bolero”, a neo-classical piece, especially for Amanda, which was performed for the Prince of Belgium in Gent.
Amanda is an accredited teacher and international examiner of the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.
Tamara De Nicolai
The German-born Tamara studied classical ballet in Berlin, under the world-renowned russian teacher Tatiana Gsovsky and became a professional ballet dancer of the State Opera House in Berlin’s former West.
Since retiring from the stage, she has devoted her time to helping the younger generations of dance students to realise their dreams of becoming professionals.
She has shared her knowledge and passion for classical ballet to students all over Australia, and we are very honoured to have Tamara as one of the ABDA faculty.
John began his dance training at the Coffs Harbour Dance Studios before moving to Melbourne to attend the Victorian College of the Arts and the Australian Ballet School. After graduating he joined the modern ballet company Introdans (Netherlands) where he danced works by Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Hans van Manen, and Nils Christie. John later danced as a soloist at the Staatstheater am Gartnerplatz in Munich. He holds a Diploma Degree in Ballet Pedagogy in Vaganova Technique and is currently a freelance teacher of ballet and contemporary for Expressions Dance Company, QUT, Griffith University and QDSE.
Classical Ballet / Pilates
Lara began her ballet training with ABDA at age 12, and is one of only a few students worldwide to have gained Distinction in the final (excellence) examination. In 2009 Lara was a senior semi-finalist in the Alana Haines Australasian Awards in New Zealand, and gained a place at the Tanzakademie Mannheim in 2010.
In 2011 Lara completed the ‘Body Arts & Science International Teacher Training’ and has become a registered teacher of the ACB in 2013.
Alexandra has completed her performance certificate in Speech & Communications Association as well as Trinity of London Musical Theatre Exams and is currently teaching private speech and drama at Jubilee Primary at Pacific Pines, whilst also completing her teaching degree at Griffith University. Alex has been trained in all areas of dance, including Jazz, Tap and Contemporary, has performed in over twenty productions at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, and has been involved in several Musical theatre productions.
